Silly Kevo aka Kevin Emerson started out in the Entertainment field at a very young age. In the 5th grade and only 10 yrs old he witnessed a Magician present a Magic Show at his School Assembly. Intrigued and fascinated by the magic being presented he heard the Magician say something at the end of his show that would forever seal his fate. The Magician then said that if anyone was interested in learning to do magic tricks like himself then check out the magic number of 793.7 in the library. Needless to say, Little Kevo made a bee line rush straight to the school library the next time he got a chance and checked out all the books on magic!
Kevin kept studying the art form and in the mid 90's started performing Magic Professionally. He is a member of three magic clubs. The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM), The Society of American Magicians (SAM) and Co-Leader/Teacher of the Society of Young Magicians (SYM). He also was the Newsletter Editor of all three clubs at the same time! Later on he liked adding Comedy to his Magic Shows and joined several clown clubs. The World Association of Clowns (WCA), and the Clowns of America International (COAI). He created his clown character Kevo the Klown and performs for Children's Birthday Parties which are a hit with the younger ones!
Kevin has done Birthday Party Magic Shows, Gospel Themed Magic Shows, Library Magic Shows, or any Magic Show that can be placed where an audience can watch! With his Strolling Magic Close-Up he has entertained at cocktail/snack parties, the KC Zoo and even did Walk-Around Magic for Helzberg during their employee recognition dinner! He has his Silly Kevo the Magician character which is a hit with kids of all ages and Kevo the Magic Klown that is animated and full of hi-energy! Specializing in Childrens' Entertainment he was awarded as Best Performer in Children's Magic amongst his peers!
In the 6th Grade Kevin learned basic Balloon Twisting creating all kinds of fun animals. In the late 90's and early 2000's he saw an explosion of requests for Balloon Artistry and Balloon Twisting and thus filled the void with his own style of Balloon Creations! In 2007 he produced his own tutorial DVD on basic balloon twisting called "Kevo's Wacky Wubber Wascals" in collaboration with his Balloon Workshops to students willing to learn! Noticing a void of a Balloon Club he started The Greater Kansas City Balloon Jam to share with other Balloon Artists in 2012 and currently going! The balloon art form is ever expanding and growing - pun intentional!
In the early 2000's Kevin was approached about his skills in Facepainting. At the time, he had none. Through the encouraging words of his booking agents he began to learn and is now considered and hired as a quality Facepainter. For a brief period of time there was even a Facepainters Guild that he joined to share with other artists.
Around the mid 2000's Kevin started to be interested in Balloon Decor' with their Balloon Arches, Balloon Towers, and helium filled balloons which seemed to coalesce with Balloon Twisting! Now he is able to combine the two different fields to create symbiotic free-flowing works of asthetic colorful works of latex art! Oh the spaces that he will create!
In 2012 Kevin became an author. He wrote his book, "Kevo's Kool Kat Routines" for magicians, balloon twisters, and a few mimes thrown in (they were my 'silent partners') to help them in their quest for new ideas and thoughts about their craft and hopefully inspire them to continue to pursue the magic art form.
I am grateful for all the talents, skills, and gifts that I have been given to by my Lord God who reigns in Heaven and on Earth and my hope and pleasure is that I may share a small piece of the wonder with YOU!
